yes, it’s definitely getting cold now

So, we turned the clocks back this weekend which means it gets dark around at about 4.30pm now. You definitely need a coat to go outside (Mick just bought a new reversible coat with a rain hat built into the collar… very fancy), and some people say it’s almost time for gloves. I think they’re exaggerating tho.

The central heating has been turned on in the house, so we get home to a toasty warm apartment these days.

It’s a different kind of cold here… hard to explain how exactly… maybe it’s that it really feels as though it’s here to stay, where as a cold day in Sydney just feels like an exception rather than an ongoing state of play.

It’s only been cold for a few days now, so who knows, we might still get another warm week or two in… doesn’t seem likely tho’. I think we’re on the way into winter now.

I think we’re going to enjoy it - just for the novelty value. But stay tuned… there might be much complaining about the weather in the next few months!

Mick & Leisa. Mick, I got your message on the tape yesterday. We will ring you next weekend. We have been in Sydney for a re-union with Michael Paxton at Lavender Bay Church-yard. I have been working in Casino over the last couple of months and it will be good to return home for more than just a weekend. Mum has been pretty busy working also at the Boiling Billy. On the 1st January 2007 Dot Negus died at the Hospital in Bellingen. Mum and I were with her when she passed away. That was a very sad day. Dot was very close to mum particularly and I was very fond of her. I’m sure you would remember Dotty, she was George Negus’s Mother from Gleniffer. I hope you are coping well with the weather. We have spoken to people recently who have told us the weather is freezing over there. I hope your new home is finalised and you are have both settled in. We will talk to you soon. Love Dad & Mum.
